Sheryl Crow's vintage Mercedes in charity auction

The Grammy Award-winning singer Sheryl Crow is parting with her 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster in order to raise funds and awareness for tornado-ravished Joplin, Missouri. Gooding & Co. will auction the vintage roadster in Pebble Beach, Calif., next month. The sale proceeds are slated for rebuilding schools in the small town devastated by a massive tornado earlier this summer.
"After the tornado in Joplin I was moved to help rebuild a city so close to where I grew up in Missouri,” says Sheryl Crow. “My hope is that the auction of my 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL Roadster will bring in funds to help rebuild the schools in the area.”
Crow's classic car was restored in 2005 with new brakes, suspension, a reconditioned Becker Mexico radio with speaker and a fresh interior of black leather upholstery. It is offered without reserve and expected to fetch between $50,000 and $80,000 on Sunday, Aug. 21.
