Major Exhibition of Thomas Hart Benton Artworks Planned

An upcoming exhibition devoted to American painter Thomas Hart Benton (1889-1975) will be co-organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo.
A $40,000 grant announced Wed. by the National Endowment for the Humanities will bring the project forward. It is scheduled for 2015.
“Benton, Hollywood and History” will include about 100 works by the famed American Scene artist.
On view will be about 75 paintings and murals and 25 preparatory studies and drawings, plus a selection of Benton’s historical prints, illustrated books and never-exhibited ephemera and photographs.
