A North Carolina woman found a treasure in her local Goodwill store.
Beth Feeback, an unemployed artist, noticed a pair of abstract paintings for $9.99 each. She bought the artwork for their value as canvasses, thinking that she would paint cat pictures over them.
A friend urged her to research one of the signatures, Ilya Bolotowski.
The 20th century Russian-born, New York-based artist brings in the tens of thousands at auction. Sotheby's gave Feeback a preliminary auction estimate of $20,000 and the Bolotowski work goes under the hammer in September.
