Christo's 6-Mile Fabric Art Project Delayed by Judge

A federal judge has ruled that artist Christo can not begin his Arkansas River project until a lawsuit seeking to block the immense project is resolved.
Christo's Over the River Corp. was told at the hearing that no fabric could be draped over parts of a 42-mile stretch of the Arkansas as the artist intends.
Rags Over the Arkansas River Inc., a group contesting the project, sued the U.S. Bureau of Land Management in February. Christo joined the suit as a defendant.
Bulgarian-born Christo, known with his late wife Jean-Claude for Central Park's The Gates project, wants to drape 6-miles of shimmery fabric across the river for two months.
Opponents fear environmental damage.
