- September 20, 2012 22:01
Thieves broke into the Santa Monica residence of bond fund manager Jeffrey Gundlach this week stealing a $10-million trove of art and valuables.
Among the missing are works by modern and contemporary artists Jasper Johns, Piet Mondrian, Richard Diebenkorn, Franz Kline, Philip Guston, and others. Paintings by California impresisonists Guy Rose, William Wendt, and Hanson Duvall Puthuff were also taken.
Returning from a business trip to New York, Gundlach, who is the founder of DoubleLine Capital, found empty spaces on his walls where his prized art collection once hung. Wine, watches, cash, and his red Porsche Carrera have disappeared.
The police investigation is in the early stages. Gundlach is offering a $200,000 reward for the safe return of his art and collectibles.
