An early work by Jean-Michel Basquiat is expected to bring an artist auction record at Christie's New York on November 14. Created when the artist was just 20 years old, "Untitled" (1981) may fetch $20 million.
This vibrant work depicts a skeletal fisherman and broke the artist's record in 1988 at $110,000. With commissions, the piece might well edge above $20 million to smash the current Basquiat record of $20.1 million.
This early period of Basquiat's is considered his best, before drugs and fame altered the artist.
