Ahead of the big contemporary art week led by the Frieze fair, several major U.S. galleries have opened new spaces in London.
Competition for the top end of the market has some American dealers vying for the attention of ultra-rich clients from the Middle East, Asia and Russia who are increasingly settling in the U.K. capital.
In recent weeks, Manhattan dealer David Zwirner has joined a growing list of American dealers who have opened satellite locations in London, joining Pace gallery, Micheal Werner, and Skarstedt Gallery, and a host of others established earlier, including mega-dealer Gagosian.
