Warhol made two silkscreens of Farrah Fawcett in 1980.

A judge may let a jury decide whether actor Ryan O'Neal can keep his portrait of the late Farah Fawcett or give it to the University of Texas.

The university sued the actor in 2011 when the painting was seen in his home during an episode of realtiy TV show, “Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals.”

According to the university, Fawcett intended to give all her artwork to the University of Texas, her alma mater, upon her death. She died of cancer in 2009.

O'Neal, who was in an on-and-off relationship with Fawcett for several decades, says his friend, the late Andy Warhol, created two portraits of Fawcett for the couple. O'Neal owned one and Fawcett was given the other, now at the University of Texas.

O'Neal's copy was sometimes stored at Fawcett's home to protect it from the ocean air at his Malibu home, the actor says. He admits removing it from Fawcett's home after her death.

The actor may be able to tell his version of ownership to a jury as the case moves forward.
