An Insider's To-Do List for Miami Arts Week
- December 04, 2012 23:49
This week, modern and contemporary art collectors, enthusiasts, and curators, along with a party contingent and luxury brand marketers, descend on Miami for a dizzying round of fairs, openings, events, and revelry.
The Webster CEO and co-founder Laure Heriard Dubreuil told The Huffington Post of her agenda for the week. Among the highlights, a possible portrait session with Takashi Murakami facilitated by Art Basel Miami Beach exhibitor Galeries Perrotin, Bill Viola's "Reflecting Pool" at MoCA Miami, and a tour of Miami galleries outside the show circuit.
Art Basel Miami Beach is the central event with numerous satellite fairs such as Pulse, Seven, Scope, Aqua, Pool, Ink, NADA Art Fair, and Art Miami.
Most of the exclusive art parties are invitation-only. One exception that the New York Times points out is hosted by MoMA PS1 and Volkswagen on Friday at the Delano. The event, with D.J. sets by Chromeo and Animal Collective, benefits those affected by Hurricane Sandy, with $100 tickets and $1,000 V.I.P. passes helping out the Rockaway Waterfront Alliance.
