An original illustration of Christopher Robin dragging his beloved bear down stairs is the star lot in a Sotheby's sale in London this Wednesday.
Estimated between $112,500 and $160,716, the work from A.A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh, as portrayed by E.H. Shepard, is among over 100 illustrations and around 40 books from the collection of film director Michael Winner on the auction block. (Winner is known for directing grittier content such as the violent film "Death Wish.")
A rare Beatrix Potter illustration of Benjmain Bunny is another highlight from Winner's collection of works representing the golden age of children's book illustration, spanning the 1890s to the early 1900s.
The estimate for "Gentleman Rabbit With Letter ('Benjamin Bunny')" is $48,211—$80,353.
