A rare 148-year-old baseball card that was discovered at a rummage sale in rural northeastern Maine is expected to bring in the six-figures at auction on Feb. 6.
Saco River Auction Co. in Biddeford, Maine, said the consignor found the card in an album he bought at a house sale in Baileyville, along the Canadian border. He also picked up other items for less than $100 total.
The card is mounted with an original photograph from 1896 showing nine players and the manager of the Brooklyn Atlantics amateur baseball club.
The Library of Congress owns one other copy of the same card which it says is the first dated baseball card.
