The auction house Phillips de Pury & Co. has changed its name back to Phillips and increased its size after Chairman Simon de Pury, the charismatic lead auctioneer, left the company.
Along with his wife and senior director, Michaela, 61-year-old de Pury stepped down on Dec. 21, 2012, and sold his remaining interest in the company to the Moscow-based Mercury Group, which acquired a controlling stake in October 2008.
Phillips CEO Michael McGinnis, 42, says the company will increase its visibility next month with 11,500 square feet of offices and 10,000 square feet of gallery space added to its headquarters at 450 Park Avenue.
A London space has been talked about with a report of more than 100 million pounds being spent on a 52,000 square-foot building at 30 Berkeley Square.
