Staff who were restoring an early Picasso work at Barcelona’s Picasso Museum found an even earlier charcoal drawing by his hand hidden underneath.
Cardboard behind Portrait of the Artists Mother, created in 1896 by a 15-year-old Picasso, was removed to reveal the modern master's even earlier work---a charcoal drawing of a man with a pipe.
The discovery shows Picasso's mastery of difficult techniques at a young age, said head restorer Reyes Jimenez.
