A signed copy of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band sold at auction for $290,500, almost doubling the previous record for an album cover from the legendary rock band.

A signed copy of the Beatles album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band sold at auction for $290,500, almost doubling the previous record for an album cover from the legendary rock band.

Dallas-based Heritage Auctions sold the album on Saturday. It featured high quality autographs by all four Beatles in 1967, the year the U.K. Parlophone copy of the album came out. With its high-gloss cover and gatefold, got early bids up to $110,000 a week before the auction date.

An unnamed buyer from the Midwest was the winning bidder, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The previous record price for a signed Beatles album cover was $150,000, for a copy of the band's 1964 album Meet the Beatles.
