Botched Church Art Restoration Raises $72,500 for Charity

Dubbed the "Monkey Jesus" painting, a botched restoration of a church fresco in Spain brought $72,500 from 70,000 visitors to raise funds for charity.

Spanish octogenarian artist Celia Gimenez became a worldwide sensation last year when she botched a restoration of a Christ fresco in her local church.

Although her intentions were good, the 80-year-old parishioner's badly rendered "Ecce Homo" ("Behold the Man") resulted in an Internet buzz with Twitter users redubbing her work "Ecce Mono" ("Behold the Monkey").
