A metro-Detroit TV network owner says his bid was missed by Christie's International auction house in a sale of Lehman Brothers memorabilia, and he may pursue legal action.
Kevin Adell claims that the auctioneer missed his maximum bid of $20,000 for a London office sign from the collapsed financial institution whose 2008 demise sent the U.S. economy into the Great Recession.
The sign went to another bidder for $10,000.
Adell is a collector of sports and popular culture memorabilia.
Christie’s spokesman Matthew Paton told The Macomb Daily, “Unfortunately, due to a clerical error, an intended bid was not relayed to the auction. We are contacting all parties involved with the hope to find an agreeable resolution.”
