Giving Chicago and San Francisco a run for their money, Los Angeles is now in the bidding for the $300 million museum proposed by "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" creator George Lucas.
Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti has launched social media campaigns and sent a personal letter to Lucas and his wife, Mellody Hobson, to entice the new museum, with collections of American art, movie memorabilia, and more, to his city.
Garcetti is proposing to locate the museum in Exposition Park, which includes the California Science Center and the Natural History Center near USC, which is Lucas's alma mater.
