Getty, Mellon Trusts Add $13 Million to Help Save Detroit's Art

After U.S. automakers announced ealier this week a combined $26 million pledge to save the collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts from the city's creditors, two charitable foundations followed suit on Wednesday with a $13 million pledge for the museum.
The J. Paul Getty Trust will give $3 million and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation pledged $10 million as part of the "Grand Bargain" to keep the DIA's art from being sold to alleviate Detroit's $18 billion debt load.
