Van Dyck Portrait Discovered on Antiques Roadshow Fails at Auction

A painting found by experts to be a genuine Sir Anthony van Dyck portrait during an episode of the Antiques Roadshow failed to attract a buyer at auction.
The painting was brought to a UK "Roadshow" near Nottingham, England, last year by a priest named Father Jamie MacLeod who planned to sell it to buy new church bells.
Head Study of a Man in a Ruff, which was bought for just £400, had been given an estimate of £300,000 to £500,000 for this week's sale at Christie's in London, but it failed to sell in the Old Master and British Paintings auction.
