Another Shake Up at Art Basel

Swiss art fair organization Art Basel will lose another powerhouse leader when show director Annette Schönholzer moves onto other projects this month.
She helped catapult the Art Basel Miami Beach to a grand position in the contemporary art world since its founding in 2002. With co-director Marc Spiegler, Schönholzer boosted all three Basel fairs--in Switzerland, Miami Beach and Hong Kong--to roaring successes.
The departure follows Magnus Renfrew's surprise move to Bonhams in July from his role as director of the Hong Kong fair.
Marc Spiegler commented, "Annette has played a pivotal role in transforming Art Basel into the truly global organization it is today. She brought to each of her roles a rare combination of strategic vision, executional excellence, and devotion to the mission of Art Basel. Personally, I have learned greatly from working so closely with her over the last seven years.”
