The shooting deaths of 12 at the Parisian offices of the Charlie Hebdo weekly has prompted some cartoonists to express their grief through art. View their illustrations on Buzzfeed and Yahoo.
Another popular post on the unofficial Bansky Instagram account was actually an illustration done by Lucille Clerc. Banksy reps said the account does not belong to the street artist, reports the Telegraph.
Two masked gunmen stormed the offices, reportedly firing into an editorial meeting at the satirical newspaper before fleeing. Famed cartoonists Cabu, Georges Wolinski and Bernard Verlhac, who is also known as Tignous, and the paper's publisher, were among the dozen killed. Four others were seriously wounded.
The Charlie Hebdo offices were firebombed in 2011 after running a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad. Subsequent cartoons have enraged parts of the Muslim world.
Parisians have rallied against the attacks, with some 15,000 gathered in the streets on Wed. night, holding up pens in solidarity.
