Three masked men drove a SUV through the glass front of the Wells Fargo History Museum in San Francisco and stole a handful of historic gold nuggets early on Tuesday morning.
After crashing the vehicle, one man held a security guard at gunpoint while the others scooped up about 10 ounces of gold dating from the Gold Rush era.
The trio fled in another vehicle and headed over the Bay Bridge. A police investigation is underway.
Historic stagecoaches and other memorabilia, along with the guard, were unhurt in the heist which took place at 2:30 am in the Financial District.
