UK's National Gallery Staff Riled by Rep's Suspension

A dispute between staff and management of the National Gallery in London has worsened since a senior rep for the workers' union was suspended.
About 200 members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union are planning another walk-out over five days following a strike on Feb. 2.
Negotiations over the privatization of the museum's visitor services have stalled. A petition signed by 40,000 supporters was handed to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport by the PCS.
A spokesman for the National Gallery said privatizing the services would not cause job cuts, and that staff would soon be paid a London Living Wage.
Museum staff are demanding that their rep Candy Udwin, who was in talks with the museum through a conciliation service, be reinstated after she was suspended on the eve of the strike.
