WHAT

Headlands Center for the Arts will hold its 9th annual Benefit Art Auction featuring work by over 100 artists at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco on Wednesday, June 1. The Benefit is Headlands’ biggest fundraiser and among the Bay Area’s most anticipated events, providing art-lovers and collectors with the opportunity to view and bid on work by both emerging and leading contemporary artists. Approximately 50% of the artists are Headlands alumni. The live auction component of the evening features works by Matt Connors, William Cordova, Shannon Finley, David Maisel, Barry McGee, Nandipha Mntambo, Hugh Scott-Douglas, Malick Sidibe, Larry Sultan, Ricky Swallow, t.w.five, and Letha Wilson. Proceeds directly support Headlands, its artists and public programs, and its mission to promote awareness of the vital role of the arts in society. Headlands proudly offers up to 50% commission to participating artists.

The festive event takes place at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture with breathtaking views of San Francisco Bay and includes an evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, and live and silent auctions. In addition to artworks, the auction will include four unique experiences by international artists Tania Bruguera, Meleko Mokgosi, Rirkrit Tiravanija, and t.w.five. Aaron Bastian, specialist in American painting and sculpture at Bonhams, is the auctioneer. Among the 800 guests expected are artists, arts patrons, collectors, business and tech leaders, and creative professionals.
