Shannon’s to host bi-annual live Fine Art auction at their Milford, Connecticut gallery on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 6PM EDT.
MILFORD, CT. – Important American paintings from the 19th century through contemporary will be available during Shannon’s bi-annual American and European Fine Art Auction to be held at 6PM on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in Milford, Connecticut. Featuring 250 lots, the auction will include quality examples from the Hudson River School, American Impressionism, Regionalism, Modernism, and European art.
A painting by Dale Nichols is a standout lot in the auction (est. $50,000/75,000). This fresh to the market work was painted by the artist in 1969. Shannon’s recently achieved a world record price for the artist when Mid-Nation Winter sold in their last auction for $120,000.
A highlight in the Modern and Contemporary category is a work on paper by Hans Hofmann. Painted in 1932, the untitled abstract is an early work by the artist when he first moved to America (est. $10,000-15,000). This work shows Hofmann’s mastery of Abstract Expressionism and his characteristic use of bright colors.
Leading 19th century paintings is an exceptional seacape fresh from a Connecticut collection, Off Conanicut, by William Trost Richads (est. $50,000-75,000). The 20 x 32-inch canvas features the luminst sky and translucent waves that Richards is so well recognized for.
Other highlights in American Art include paintings by Eric Sloane, Albert Francis King, Jack Levine and many more!
