Matthew's Galleries announces its summer fine arts auction of 19th & 20th century American and European paintings, watercolors and fine prints.  Highlights include a sanguine drawing by Pierre-Auguste Renior (French, 1841-1919) "Jeune Femme nue aux bras leves", 8 1/4" x 6 3/8", and two street scene paintings by Eugene Galien-Laloue (French, 1854-1941), each 10 7/8" x 13 7/8".  Noted lots from the American paintings selection is "Mt. Shasta, California" by William S. Parrott (1843-1915), a 18" x 22" canvas, and a high key impressionist painting by Henry J. Albright (1887-1951) of Laguna Beach, California from 1922 measuring 10" x 12".  The gallery will be accepting consignments late as June 4th.

Matthew's Galleries was opened by its current owner/director Matthew W. Gerber in 1968. The specialty has always been quality 19th & 20th century American paintings with some European works as well. Emphasis is on Northwest and California regionalist artists. The retail part of the gallery offers at least 300 works for sale on exhibit at any given time. In addition, the gallery presents at least two art auctions each year at its large venue located about 10 miles from Portland, Oregon, just one block off I-5.
