NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Mark Battista in Chelsea International Photography Competition Exhibition. The exhibition opens February 19 and runs through February 28, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, February 21 from 6-8 pm. About the Artist

Mark Battista is a painter and photographer specializing in still life and portraits. Battista’s work deals with the concept of time and how it affects his subjects, whether they are old wooden antiques or wrinkles on the face of an elderly person. His work speaks of resiliency and persistence.

Photographic compositions like “Azure” exist in visual dialog with painting. Battista’s paintings influence how he composes his photographs, while his photographs influence how he sees and uses light. He carefully selects man-made and natural objects to function as symbols that communicate ideas.
