NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Karen Kanas in I Remember You, I Know this Place. The exhibition opens November 10 and runs through December 1, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, November 15 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.
About the Artist
From landscapes to abstracts to figures, the work of American artist Karen Kanas aims to capture the beauty and essence of a moment in time. Inspired by Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Abstract Impressionism, Kanas explores her ideas on canvas using both traditional and innovative techniques. She likes to create a custom acrylic palette for each of her paintings, choosing one dominant color to take precedence throughout the piece. Her background in performing arts influences the themes of her paintings, which change depending on the mood or season she finds herself in. Motivated by what she learns about herself through each artwork, Kanas considers her talent a work in progress which she continues to explore.
Kanas grew up in Chicago where she attended Barat College of DePaul University. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in theater, she later moved to California to study architecture and interior design at UCLA. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband, actor Ammar Daraiseh. Kanas’ award-winning work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the city and online.
