Jacob Wallwork, Trans-Mongolian Railway, Epson Premium Luster 260, 8'' x 24''

The photographs of Australian native Jacob Wallwork capture the rugged romanticism that exists at the margins of a technologically-sophisticated world. Often documenting travel experiences, his work discovers moments of spontaneous abandon in the interstices of the workaday world.

Focusing on outlying landscapes, nomadic train rides, and visages broken into smile, Wallwork uses the camera’s lens to seek out novelty emerging from the ordinary wherever possible. Showing viewers a world in perpetual transit, he authenticates these realities with the documentarian approach by which he frames his subjects.
