TANGERINE TANGO, TERRACOTTA ROSE ARE AT FISHER HERITAGE NOW.
The two beautiful shades declared the colors of 2012 – Tangerine Tango and Terracotta Rose – have been incorporated by quilt makers, rug hookers and coverlet weavers into their handwork since the late 1800s. They can accent your home or office right this minute through a call or visit to NYC gallery FISHER HERITAGE, where antiques dealer Laura Fisher has pulled together a varied group of vibrant textiles that emphasize these rich colors.
Fisher specializes in finding the eye catching and the uncommon in antique quilts, hooked rugs, rag carpet, and woven coverlets. Tangerine Tango is actually the title used in the 1930s by pattern publishers to promote fresh modern designs to quilt makers. And of course weathered red terracotta is a beloved 19th century shade used to enhance predominantly neutral hooked rugs, rag carpet and quilts too. Both warm and rich colors shades are always on hand in Fisher’s antique and vintage textiles.
Pantone declared Tangerine Tango the “vivacious, enticing” color of the year - an orange with a lot of depth to it,” the Institute said. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” And the Dutch paint company Akzo Nobel in its “Color Futures” declared “Terracotta Rose” its own color of 2012, acclaiming the “blushing, lively, juicy red” for its versatility - dynamic and soft, perfect as an accent or a feature wall.”
Photographs of just a few examples are shown; feel free to request photos of other selections from our in-depth groupings of quilts, rugs, and textiles.
