Ed Belbruno, Dialectic, Acrylic on Canvas, 40" x 30"

NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Ed Belbruno in Metamorphosis . The exhibition opens November 11, 2017 and runs through December 2,  2017 with an opening reception on Thursday, November 16 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

The abstract expressionist paintings of Ed Belbruno reflect both inner and outer realities, each invisible to the naked eye but no less substantial or important. Belbruno draws inspiration from his subconscious and his personal life, but is also deeply influenced by his research in math, science, and astrophysics. A former NASA scientist with a doctorate in mathematics, Belbruno’s art plays with concepts of time and dimension, microwave radiation from the “Big Bang,” alien landscapes, and night skies. Likewise, his painting sparks ideas for scientific discoveries and mathematical formulas. Belbruno sees art and science as working in concert, balancing out the intuition, creativity, and logic needed for both of his passions. Approaching his work with a spirit of “chaotic discovery,” he constantly experiments with new styles and explores in different directions. Regardless of the medium or approach, Belbruno’s paintings search for beauty in the universe, harmony in the cosmos, and his own feelings in the here and now.

Belbruno currently lives in New Jersey, where he balances his full-time art career with a position at Princeton University.

About the Exhibition

Metamorphosis

Featuring eighteen artists, Metamorphosis is an exhibition of contrast and change. The works on view present diverse and opposing perspectives on time, place, and the human condition, calling into question the arbitrary nature of boundaries. Through dynamic juxtapositions, the exhibition conjures feelings of harmony and mutual transformation despite the presence of difference.
