NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of D. L. Brabander in I Remember You, I Know this Place. The exhibition opens November 10 and runs through December 1, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, November 15 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.
About the Artist
Canadian artist D.L Brabander plays with fantasy and fluidity in her work, while exploring the notion that the landscape is an inherent part of identity. By experimenting with both acrylic and mixed media and watercolor on canvas, she is able to move beyond the traditional landscape to explore something more abstract. Texture and layers invoke impressions, suggest elements and draw the audience into her pictures, all the while leaving an abundance of space for individual interpretation and appreciation. This has inspired Brabander to often produce the same image in both mediums, to see how they come to life: similar, yet completely unique. The vibrancy of color and fluidity of motion help her paintings to stand out.
Brabander studied at Montreal’s Concordia University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and sculpture. After travelling throughout Europe, she returned to Canada to study philosophy at McGill University. Brabander currently lives on the Island of Montreal with her husband and kids, where she paints and sculpts.
