About the Artist
Born in La Plata, Argentina, Osvaldo Bacman grew up across the street from the local university’s School of Fine Art, which would become a second home for him throughout his childhood and teenage years. There, he studied drawing and painting, two passions he maintained as he began his other career as a doctor. In the 1970s he relocated to Cologne, Germany with his family, opening an art studio on the Rhine that he occupies to this day.
Bacman was interested in three-dimensional art early in his career, manipulating wood and acrylic-painted foam boards to create what he refers to as “concrete structures.” However, over the past few years Bacman has delved into the history of ornamentation, a diverse form of expression used in some form by nearly every culture in the world. These studies have led him to work with watercolor pencils, a method that has leant itself well to his vibrant, multi-colored, and geometrically complex works. Geometric abstraction, as a result of changing a composition's forms, its dynamism, its vitality, and its language, offers the possibility of a dialogue between the artwork and the observer, thus stimulating an aesthetic and intellectual interpretation for each individual. For Bacman, art has an inherently positive quality that combats the evils of the world; it is a true force for good. He has recently reached a new stage in his artistic career with unique acrylic artworks that will be shown for the first time at his upcoming exhibition.

About the Exhibition
Metamorphosis
Featuring eighteen artists, Metamorphosis is an exhibition of contrast and change. The works on view present diverse and opposing perspectives on time, place, and the human condition, calling into question the arbitrary nature of boundaries. Through dynamic juxtapositions, the exhibition conjures feelings of harmony and mutual transformation despite the presence of difference.
