Not adhering to a particular theme, but rather a stylistic patchwork of creative thoughts and ideas, In Between Days VIII: Group Exhibition by Gallery Artists is the eighth annual exhibition of the new and previously exhibited works from the collection of Art+ Shanghai Gallery. Whether it is a social commentary, ironic conceptualization or a personal reflection, the works on show are multidirectional and multi-meaningful. Executed in a variety of media, some works lean towards the mysterious and subconscious, intuitive and metaphorical, while others towards something more bold and daring.

The highlights of the summer showcase include the works by the artists who have recently joined the gallery and whose works have not been previously displayed, such as immense graffiti piece in oil on canvas by Chen Xuanrong, intricate paper-cut works by Tang Zhengwei and He Jian’s works on rice paper with Chinese pigment that are filled with nostalgia for the past and yet ridicule attitude towards a modern day society. In Between Days VIII will also bring to you the new phantasmagorical sticker mosaics by Ye Hongxing, bold and polemic conversations in oil on canvas by the Tamen+ collective, as well as expressive and allegorical works by Hu Weiqi.

An array of works on show demonstrates the magnitude of creative thought, the diversity and complexity of ideas of Chinese emerging and established artists that the gallery represents.
