This Circa 1935 Navajo concho belt “with dangles and embellishments” including 24 charms and 50 beads was called a ”medicine woman’s belt” sold on opening night of Objects of Art, 2014.

A very particular kind of collector attends the three August antique shows in Santa Fe. That collector is looking for treasures of the Old West, and of even more exotic locales: Japan, China, Africa, Indonesia, and more. They crave objects burnished with age, marked with the touch of other hands from another time.

Collectors flock to Santa Fe each August for the opportunity to see, feel, and perhaps purchase. And all this in gorgeous Santa Fe: adobe buildings, galleries almost everywhere, restaurants with global menus as well as fresh red and/or green chile-based New Mexican food, the Santa Fe Opera, nearby hot springs, neighboring pueblos, museums, auctions…

This 1910-1920 18”-tall Pahlik Mana Hopi kachina was exhibited in 2014 at the Whitehawk Antique Indian Art show by Toby Herbst, Santa Fe.

Antique Tribal Art Dealers Association/ATADA members, art dealers who honor the artistic legacy of indigenous people, will be exhibiting and selling at each of these shows, displaying the highest standard of connoisseurship. See more about ATADA at atada.org.
