Miami River Art Fair 2013, as US States’s celebrated art exchange with high internationalization degree, will be grandly held from December 5-8 at Downtown Miami Convention Center, continuing the scale as before, presenting domestic and overseas collectors a gorgeous art event in Miami as well. Miami River Art Fair, established in 2012, has been successfully founded by the Director and Curator Nina Torres, who not only bridged the gap between worldwide and Miami, public and art, but also shaped a paradigm for the domestic art fairs during Art Basel Week.
A lifelong fasciation with water -its flow patterns, its symbolic richness, and its role in life on earth - shapes the work of Marianne A. Kinzer. The two paintings of hers that the jury selected to display at Riverfront Hall reflect this focus of her work (booth B1, Art History Consulting). Marianne explains: "My paintings are playful explorations of how water shapes and connects us all. I look at flow patterns and idealized drop-shapes. I observe how they relate to organic forms. In my studies of natural environments, conservation and restoration, I came to realize that water flow patterns are to be found in all living beings. “Unlike a scientist, who may take the essential importance of water almost for granted, the artist feels compelled to explore the magnitude and also the mystery of the notion that it is water, which keeps us going and connects us all.“
Marianne A. Kinzer was born in Germany, lived in Turkey and now lives in Boston. She studied with renown artists in Germany and the United States. She took classes in drawing, painting and printmaking at the University of Fine Arts Berlin and at the School of the Art Institute Chicago. Her work has been featured in galleries in Germany, Turkey and the United States, and is held in private collections in all three countries. “I love the way watercolor flows, says Marianne A. Kinzer. “I used to paint with oil, but a few years ago I decided to focus on watercolor. My subject, ‘Water and its importance for all living beings’ is best expressed by the fluidity of water based paint. Watercolor has been unduly tainted as a rather marginal medium, but my longterm goal is to prove the opposite. I love the transparency, the ambiguity of what’s below and what’s reflected, and the natural flow of aqua media. Watercolors are the best way to depict the role of water in life.”
