NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Cristiano Mazzoli in From Italy with Love. The exhibition opens June 14, 2018 and runs through June 21,  2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, June 14 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Cristiano Mazzoli plays with the popular connotations of photography. Responding to music and performance, as much as light and shape, Mazzoli's pictures call into the question the compartmentally separated regions of fine art and documentary realism. Taking musicianship as his subject-matter, his photos appear almost casual, mainly because what they aspire to memorialize is spontaneity in process.

Whether it be a saxophone player blowing an ear-shattering solo, or a singer gently adjusting a microphone, Mazzoli focuses on just an aspect of what he originally photographed holistically. Paring down each photograph to its essential subject-matter, allowing the rest of the picture to be greyed out, Mazzoli’s works actually place the viewer closer to what they depict. Just as an auditor might fixate on a musical gesture or style, Mazzoli recreates the rapt contemplation of fragments.
