NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Lynde in I Remember You, I Know this Place. The exhibition opens November 10 and runs through December 1, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, November 15 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.
About the Artist
As a young child, African-American artist Lynde was a football fanatic. It was his great-grandfather, a jeweler and artist himself, that instilled Lynde with the value of perfecting a craft with his hands. Today, he pays homage to his namesake through his portraits – exciting and expressive artworks inspired by people who have made an impact on society while also focusing on the diverse aspects of American culture in the 80s and 90s. Painted in oils on 550 lb cold-pressed cotton rag, Lynde brings his subjects up close and personal with a style, sense of color, and attention to detail that is eye-catching.
Lynde attended the University of Maryland on a full athletic scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. After being picked up by the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens as a free agent, he ultimately decided to pursue art as a full-time career. He values his collectors, producing only limited runs of his portraits, and has sold to an impressive list of clients that includes many current and former pro athletes and professionals.
