The Winter Show has announced the participating exhibitors for its 2020 edition, to be held at the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City from January 24 – February 2, 2020. The Winter Show 2020 will feature 70 exhibitors that represent a diverse and global mix of fine and decorative arts from ancient times to the present day, including a number of new and returning exhibitors. The Winter Show is New York’s longest-running art, antiques, and design fair, established in 1954 by East Side House Settlement, a community-based organization serving the Bronx and northern Manhattan. All net proceeds from the 10-day event benefit the organization’s life-changing programming, which focuses on education and technology as the keys to economic opportunity.
“The 2020 edition reflects our commitment to the Show’s legacy as the nation’s longest-running art fair, while casting an eye to the future,” said Executive Director Helen Allen. “Together with the Show’s Co-Chairs, Lucinda Ballard and Michael Lynch, we are excited to share what’s in store and to welcome our new and returning exhibitors, who represent the best in quality and expertise. The dynamic offerings of our ever-growing roster, as well as planned collaborations with institutions and leading art and design specialists from across the globe, are sure to engage collectors and visitors alike.”
With each object vetted for authenticity, date, and condition by a committee of 150 experts from the United States and Europe, and spanning more than 5,000 years from antiquities to contemporary photography and design, the Fair continues to broaden its roster of established and emerging exhibitors.
New exhibitors for the 2020 edition include:
- A collaboration between Carswell Rush Berlin, Inc. (New York, USA), which focuses on furniture designed and made in America’s fashion and furniture-making centers between 1800 and 1840, and Martyn Gregory (London, UK), featuring British painting and watercolor and art of the China trade
- Daniel Blau (Munich, Germany), highlighting a rare selection of Andy Warhol drawings from the 1950s
- Koopman Rare Art (London, UK), one of the world’s leading dealers in antique silver, gold boxes, and objets de vertu
- Patrick & Ondine Mestdagh (Brussels, Belgium), specializing in fine antique weapons and ethnographic objects from non-European countries
- Pavel Zoubok Fine Art (New York, USA), specializing in contemporary and modern art with a unique focus on collage, assemblage, and mixed-media installation
- Thistlethwaite Americana (Alexandria, VA, USA), an accomplished young dealer pursuing the finest in Americana
- Wick Antiques (Lymington, UK), exhibiting English antique furniture, porcelain, and maritime objects
Returning exhibitors include Schwarz Gallery (Philadelphia, PA, USA), returning after a brief leave of absence, and Charles Ede (London, UK), Erik Thomsen Gallery (New York, USA), Lowell Libson & Jonny Yarker Ltd (London, UK), and Red Fox Fine Art (Middleburg, VA, USA), all participating again after exhibiting at The Winter Show for the first time in 2019.
Each year, The Winter Show invites leaders from the worlds of interior design and architecture to lend their voices as Design Co-Chairs, reinforcing the Show’s deep relationship with the design community. The Show’s 2020 Design Co-Chairs are leading interior designer Amelia Handegan, award-winning designer Brian J. McCarthy, and esteemed architect Annabelle Selldorf. Their support heightens awareness of the important work done by East Side House Settlement, in addition to promoting the use of historic art and objects in contemporary architecture and design.
Returning for a 24th year as a sponsor is Chubb, with Fran O’Brien, Division President, Chubb North America Personal Risk Services, serving as Chair of the Opening Night Party.
