Lambertville, NJ - On Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9, Rago Auctions hosts its semi-annual auctions of Post War + Contemporary Art and American + European Art, to include a substantial selection of works from the estate of art dealer Allan Stone.

Starting Friday at 11:00 a.m., the sale of Post War + Contemporary Art will feature paintings by George Condo, Richard Anuszkiewicz, George L. K. Morris, April Gornik, Joan Snyder, Jean-Michel Atlan, James Nares, and Michael Loew; photographs by Mike and Doug Starn, Ruth Bernhard, and Manuel Álvarez Bravo; prints by Robert Longo, Andy Warhol, Robert Motherwell, Roy Lichtenstein, Jean Dubuffet, Frank Stella and Wayne Thiebaud; sculpture by Christopher Wilmarth, Jeff Koons, Marc Sijan and Larry Rivers; and works on paper by David Hockney, Jim Dine, Ralph Goings, Wolf Kahn, Alexander Calder, Keith Haring and Romare Bearden.

Also of note in the Post War + Contemporary Art sale is a sizable collection of paintings, sculptures, mixed-media, and works on paper from the estate of art dealer and pioneering supporter of Abstract Expressionism, Allan Stone, including works by Arshile Gorky, William de Kooning, Franz Kline, Wayne Thiebaud, Joseph Cornell, Harry Bertoia, James Havard, Kazuko Inoue, James Bohary and Marisol Escobar.

American + European Art will begin the following day at 11:00 a.m. and features paintings by Hermann Ottomar Herzog, William Louis Sonntag, Julien Dupré, Henri Hecht Maïk, George Gardner Symons, John Sennhauser, Aaron Gorson and John Grabach; photographs by Horst P. Horst, Walker Evans, and Berenice Abbott; prints by Salvador Dalí, Marc Chagall, Jean Dupas, Alphonse Maria Mucha, Milton Avery, Wassily Kandinsky, and Joan Miró; sculpture by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth, Paul Howard Manship, and Anna Vaughn Hyatt Huntington; and works on paper by Herman Henstenburgh, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Sir Edward Coley Burne-Jones, Jean Dupas and Renato Guttuso. Also included; several works by Latin American artists including Francisco Zuniga, Armando Amaya, Pedro Figari, Manuel Pailós Blanco, and María Freire; as well as a collection of Trompe L'œil paintings including works by Otis Kaye, Michael Theise, and Gayle B. Tate.

The American + European Art sale will also present an assemblage of works by Pennsylvania Impressionists including George Gardner Symons, Harry Leith-Ross, Kenneth Nunamaker, Morgan Colt, Edward Willis Redfield and a remarkable landscape by George William Sotter titled “Titans of Space” estimated at $70,000 – 100,000.
