Presidential Memorabilia Timed Auction - Election Day

Weschler’s is pleased to announce November 8th’s Election Day Presidential Memorabilia auction, which will feature memorabilia from the Roosevelt to Reagan administrations.
The majority of the works in the sale hail from the estate of Gerald A. Behn, who was appointed Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAIC) of the White House detail in 1949. During his career, he worked for Presidents Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Johnson. He was appointed Chief of the White House Secret Service by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and became the Special Agent in Charge of Kennedy’s detail.
The standout lot of the sale is an autographed copy of John F. Kennedy’s Presidential Inaugural Address, dated January 20, 1961 and inscribed For Gerry Behn/ With thanks and best wishes/ John Kennedy/Christmas 1961. The signed copy is bound in white cloth with the gilt presidential seal on the cover and housed in a white cloth slip cover and carries a $10,000-$15,000 estimate.
Other notable works in the sale are a 1789 George Washington “Memorable Era” Inaugural button ($1,500-$2,500), a Franklin D. Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt autographed Christmas photograph dated 1941 ($1,000-$2,000), and an autographed John F. Kennedy photograph inscribed To Terry and Maureen Shea/ with very best wishes/ John Kennedy ($800-$1,200).
