NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Kristina Daukintyte Aas  in The 33rd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition. The exhibition opens August 14, 2018 and runs through August 25,  2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, August 16 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Kristina Daukintyte Aas is a textile artist who works mainly in digital jacquard weaves, embroideries, and installations. A single work can range from looking flat and complex to having dimensions and visual depth, depending on the viewer’s vantage point.

In Pelt I, the technical aspect of the work comes to involve many woven layers, which feed into the layered meaning of the image itself. This work reflects the duality of the skin, which, when detached from the body that it covers, risks becoming something flayed-looking, or dead.
