Maureen Stanton, award winning author of “Killer Stuff and Tons of Money,” the book that reveals the world of antiques and design through the eyes of real life dealer Curt Avery, (a pseudonym) will add her flavorful and enlightening insights to the Antiques Weeks Media travel guides, it was announced today.
The two part series entitled “The Eye of the Beholder: Training Your Eye,” will appear on the websites ArtandDesign20.com and AmericanaWeek.com. This is the first time Ms. Stanton has guest blogged for the websites that provide consumers with a one-stop resource to the major antiques and art and design events.
According to Regina Kolbe, President of Antiques Weeks Media, whose popular websites include Art&Design20.com, AmericanaWeek.com, and AsiaWeekGuide.com, the guest blogs are “short cuts to the kind of knowledge it takes years to accumulate.”
“We are committed to providing original and intelligent content on the sites. Maureen’s blogs raise the bar on what readers can expect from Internet content that covers the world of art, design, antiques and decorative art,” Kolbe further stated.
In “Eye of the Beholder, Parts 1 and 2: Training Your Eye,” Stanton delivers the ground rules for telling the rare from recent in the easy and congenial style she developed for “Killer Stuff and Tons of Money.” The book recently won top spot in the in the 2012 Massachusetts Book Awards for nonfiction.
Carrying through on her thesis that readers are as captivated by colorful characters as they are by art, collectibles, and the items of material culture they sell, Stanton brings Curt Avery to the homepage of ArtandDesign20.com.
Curt Avery, the critics have lauded, replaces Larry McMurtry’s Cadillac Jack as the premier emissary to the subculture of art and antiques.
Kolbe said, “Maureen has managed, as only a dedicated writer can, to fit a larger-than-life character into short articles that educate and entertain. We couldn’t be happier with the blogs and feel certain that viewers around the world will gain more than a modicum of knowledge from her insights.”
The first of Maureen Stanton’s “Eye of the Beholder” two-part series appears in ArtandDesign20.com on Tuesday, October 5. Part two will appear on Tuesday, October 16.
"Eye of the Beholder" will be adapted for AmericanaWeek.com (which now includes Antiques Week in New York) at a later date to provide the broadest audience with knowledge they can use when scouring antiques shows, vintage markets, art and design fairs.
