Loretta Ana Kaufman - "Disk I, II,III-Environment Series"

The Tennessee Arts Commission in Nashville has scheduled a Survey of Loretta Kaufman’s work produced between 1988 to 2018.  This is a mixed media survey exhibition encompassing freestanding sculpture, wall sculpture, paintings, works on paper, and collage.

Krishna Adams, Director of Visual Arts, Craft, Media & Design with the Arts Commission curated the exhibition to a final selection of 18 works.

The exhibition will be held February 7, 2020 to April 3, 2020, in the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery, 401 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Nashville City Center. The sculpture on exhibit is hand built stoneware and has been described as containing an interesting tension between symmetry and fluidity, with its raw unglazed surfaces and organic forms that undulate with life.

Loretta’s acrylic paintings frequently allude to imagery found in nature and the natural world and have been reviewed as bold and arresting with triangular fragments creating a geometric puzzle of intricate beauty.

The limited selection of works on paper again reference the natural world.   Gallery hours are Monday – Friday 8 am to 4 pm.  Phone:  615-532-9798.
