FORT LEE, N.J., U.S.A. – Over 1,100 lots of United States, Chinese and worldwide banknotes, coins, scripophily (stocks and bonds), security printing ephemera and the American Bank Note Commemorative’s inventory of modern numismatic and philatelic souvenir cards and production material will be sold at public auction on Tuesday, July 26th by Archives International Auctions.

The auction will be held in Archives International Auctions’ offices, located in Fort Lee, starting at 10:30 am Eastern time. For those unable to attend the sale in person, online bidding will be offered on the Archives International Auctions website: www.ArchivesInternational.com. Telephone and absentee (or left) bids will also be accepted.

“We’re very excited to offer additional selections from the amazing Silicon Valley Collection of worldwide banknotes, plus a worldwide coin collection that is unsearched and housed in 149 binders by country from an old New York educational institution,” said Dr. Robert Schwartz, the president of Archives International Auctions. “This auction is sure to generate excitement from the collecting community.”

Session 1 will feature worldwide banknotes, historic ephemera, security printing ephemera, US banknotes and scripophily. Highlights include a Russo-Asiatic Bank, 1910 Harbin Branch provisional issue; a Deutsch-Asiatische Bank 1907 Peking Branch high-grade rarity; a Chinese-American Bank of Commerce 1920 Shanghai branch issue note, and scarce Chinese banknotes and bonds.

Additional highlights of world banknotes will include a Banco Nacional De Cuba unique obverse and reverse banknote essay artwork; a group of nine different early Mexico Banco issues from a new find; a hi-grade Sultanate of Muscat and Oman 1970 ND issue banknote set; and an Aaron Burr autographed letter dated March 19, 1804, penned shortly before his famous duel with Alexander Hamilton.

Security printing ephemera will feature a circa 1990s DuraNote experimental design uncut sample advertising note trio reported to be Bank of England essay samples; a rare obsolete proof Bank of the State of Arkansas at Batesville, circa.1830s; other obsolete proofs from the Silver City Collection; a Newark Banking & Insurance Company uncut proof sheet of $1-$1-$1-$1; and an uncut sheet of 4 of Confederate States of America, 1864, $2 banknotes rarely found in this format.

Scripophily will be highlighted by a Spanish-American War $20 percent coupon bond of 1898 Hessler X188G that has all of the coupons complete and in excellent condition for the issue; an extremely rare and historic 1860’s stock certificate from the American Bank Note Company; a United States Steel Corp. 1901 historic specimen bond; two different rare Nevada Territorial stock certificates; and a historic Accessory Transit Company (Nicaragua) issued bond from a historic Vanderbilt company formed as a result of the famous California Gold Rush of 1849.

Over 100 different rare railroad stocks and bonds with many rarities will be offered, as will 25 different Sugar Company bonds and stocks as well as dozens of interesting bonds and shares.

Session 2: The second session will include over 170 lots of US and worldwide coins, featuring 149 lots in binders alphabetically ordered by country consisting of over 20,000 coins unsearched for rarity that deserve careful inspection with many surprises that are bound to be included. Numerous lots of ancient, Russian and world coins will also be offered in this auction, many with low reserves.

Session 3: The auction will end with the first offering of 122 group lots from the American Bank Note Commemorative’s inventory of security printed numismatic and philatelic souvenir cards, plus production material from the 1980-1990’s project by ABNC. All lots have been off of the market for 20+ years and are in mint condition. Additional group lots will be sold in future sales.
