Loïc Vendrame, Valdeluz, Spain, Epson Premium Luster 260, 20'' x 20''

The photographs of Loïc Vendrame introduce viewers to novel architectural perspectives at the margins of structures that might feel entirely familiar. In his photography, the most functional designs become a source of ritualistic mystery.

With a tonal range that encompasses the uncanny as much as the sublime, Vendrame communicates to viewers the architectural elegance that exists even after the utility of a building has long been abandoned. With an eye for the grandeur of these derelict structures, the artist peels back the histories layered into each building he photographs, mindful of the labor these structures have consolidated.

Through expressive portraits, still lifes, and conceptual works, the exhibition conveys a unique perspective on the tradition of photography and how the medium conveys ideas, creates fictions, or captures attitudes.
