NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Yong Chen in Chelsea International Photography Competition Exhibition. The exhibition opens February 19 and runs through February 28, 2019 with an opening reception on Thursday, February 21 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.

About the Artist

Born and raised in Fujian, China, artist Yong Chen uses photography to document the passage of time. After several memory lapses, Chen started using his camera to record moments in his life as they unfold in real-time. In his work, Biological Timer_Breathing, we see a long strip of film that shows his subject breathing in and out. Recording this small, simple act reminds us of the preciousness of life. Our memories shape our understanding of the world. Chen asks us to remember and cherish such everyday moments before they fade from our memories all together.
