Lawrence Fine Art (www.lawrence-fine-arts.com) will showcase works by artists Rolph Scarlett, Arthur Pinajian and Nahum Tschacbasov at the Chicago Merchandise Mart Spring Antiques and Fine Art Show April 26-29.
"This show dovetails nicely with two important retrospectives we are mounting this spring," said Gallery Director Howard Shapiro. "The first show 'Rolph Scarlett: Beyond Geometrics' explores Scarlett's vast reach beyond geometrics and includes great gestural, abstract expressionist and drip works. We are bringing some of the finest of these with us to Chicago."
"The second show 'Arthur Pinajian: Lost Master' explores the work of an artist who has recently been rediscovered to great media and critical acclaim. Again, we are bringing superb examples of his work."
Lawrence Fine Art will also showcase an early "masterful" early modernist still life c. 1935 by Russian-American artist Nahum Tschacbasov. It is housed in its original House of Heydenryk frame.
Among the objects the gallery will be a pair of rare Art Deco candlesticks by Chicago Sculptor Emory Seidel, a c. 1974 Nakashima conoid bench and fine examples of American art pottery.
