Over 400 galleries, 15,000 artworks, 2,500 artists after only 2 1/2 years in a fast-moving art market
After a first 300,000 euros fundraising campaign closed on March 2014, Paris-based Artsper, France's leading website for buying contemporary art online from partner galleries, is now closing a second campaign for a total amount of 1,2 million. Investors include Artsper’s historical business angels as well as recognized experts in the fields of e-commerce, communication and art.
Founded in 2013 by Hugo Mulliez and François-Xavier Trancart, Artsper confirms investors’ trust in the high growth potential of the online art market, a phenomenon that both auction houses Christie’s and Sotheby’s have acknowledged in their recent reports. Artsper is one of the main players in the art market in France and is now turning to United Kingdom and Europe in order to propose a wider scale of artworks and bring international visibility to its partner galleries. The company plans to expand with U.S. galleries in 2016 and already boasts customers in the U.S.
Since its launch in 2013, Artsper.com has gathered a community of art lovers and collectors sensitive to the transition of the art market toward digital and globalization. Artsper is a very user-friendly and intuitive platform allowing customized use based on clients’ research: medium, artists, galleries, themes etc. Artpser is adaptable and users can save their search criteria in order to receive personalized notifications.
Artworks are sold on Artsper every day for an average price of 2,000€. Several sales of over 25,000€ have been transacted directly on its website: an artwork by Banksy for 40,000€ and by Philippe Berry for 30,000€. Over 400 galleries have already been selected by Artsper’s committee of experts, which guarantees the quality of artworks as well as a client's purchase.
