NEW YORK, NY – Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature the original work of Israel Feldmann in I Remember You, I Know this Place. The exhibition opens November 10 and runs through December 1, 2018 with an opening reception on Thursday, November 15 from 6-8 pm. Any art lover who enjoys thought-provoking artworks and meeting talented and interesting artists is encouraged to attend.
About the Artist
Artist Israel Feldmann has developed a unique abstract and contemporary artistic language with a deep knowledge of art history and technical form. He uses raw pigment, natural materials to create textured frames that seem to have a life of their own. Letting the paint guide him through the process, Feldmann cleverly disguises his hand in the work as if the paintings happened by chance. He shares his personal questioning on our current world, touches our interiority, sparks a reaction with a true respect of our freedom. Every picture is a message which offers the possibility of an inner experience.
Rich browns, fiery yellows, and somber blues evolve into organic forms that resemble the natural world. In Reflection 1, soft, translucent hues meld together in an ominous, yet purposeful piece, which, both physically and metaphorically, alludes to the transience and transparency of one's self and surroundings. In Creation, one can move in and out of rhythmic layers, experiencing the movement and awe of the painting, both intrinsic in the pigments that fashion them, as with any new creation. Intensely personal and yet accessible, Feldmann’s work explores ideas of creation, existence and personal reflection.
